Big donation helps young Roses bloom

More than £6000 has been raised to help fund a local youth academy.

Vanda Campbell, assistant financial controller and Hilton in the Community Foundation champion, along with members of staff at Caledonian Hilton, presented a cheque for 6400 to members of Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Youth Academy.

Staff from the Caledonian Hilton Hotel joined forces with children from Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Youth Academy in the summer to travel "Around the World in a Day" as part of the Hilton in the Community Foundation's annual national charity event and smashed their fundraising target of 3000.

The fitness challenge saw 120 fundraisers take part in various sporting events to collectively travel 1065 sponsored miles in just a few hours in support of the youth academy.

Thanks in part to this effort in Edinburgh, the Hilton in the Community Foundation UK smashed its target of 24,901 miles, the circumference of the Earth, travelling a grand total of 34,099 miles, and raising around 100,000.
