Council tax blunder could hit 5,000
A COUNCIL blunder may have sent thousands of residents into the red when their council tax payment was taken out of their bank account two days early.
Edinburgh City Council said it was investigating the mistake, affecting more than 5,000 people who pay by direct debit.
An apology has been sent out, and the local authority has agreed to pay any bank charges that residents incur.
