Dead nurse had been strangled

A NURSE found dead at the wheel of a crashed car had been strangled, police have revealed.

The body of Kate Mott, 35, from Southport, Merseyside, was discovered in the driver's seat of the vehicle on the edge of a nature reserve in Lancashire shortly after 8am on Thursday.

Detectives initially believed her death was due to an accident but a murder investigation was launched when the nature of her injuries became apparent.

A 31-year-old man, understood to be her husband, Brent Mott, also a nurse, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He is being held at a police station for questioning.

Mrs Mott, a mother of two, was found in a blue Ford Focus.
