When Scotland locked down in an effort to stem the spread of coronavirus, and millions of people began working from home, the country saw a marked drop in the emissions caused by car traffic.
According to data compiled for The Scotsman by Dr David Carslaw of Ricardo Energy & Environment, as a whole, Glasgow has seen the largest percentage drop in emissions when compared with a scenario where the Covid-19 lockdown had not happened.
But these are the 10 streets in Scotland that, individually, have seen the biggest percentage decrease in NO2 emissions. NO2 is known to make the symptoms of several respiratory conditions, including asthma, worse, and to cause airway inflammation in healthy people.
