Isle of Lewis incident: Three children rescued after becoming trapped by high tide
The Stornoway Coastguard Rescue Team (SCRT) was called after the group of children tried to escape the rising tide and got stuck out at sea in the Tong area on the Isle of Lewis
Two rescue swimmers were deployed to make their way towards the children and the Rescue Helicopter R948 arrived shortly after to help with the incident.

Hide AdA spokesman from SCRT said: “Once on scene we could see that the children had made their way out of the water but were trapped on a sandbank with the tide rising rapidly.
“They were cold and wet so the decision was made to take them to the airport by helicopter to warm them up while Police Scotland arranged for them to be picked up by their parents.”
Also called in to support the rescue were S18B, Ness CRT, Scottish Ambulance Service and Stornoway RNLI.
