Man injured at water park

AN INJURED Bank Holiday swimmer was cut free by firefighters yesterday after becoming trapped inside a high-speed flume at a busy water park.

The man suffered a suspected broken leg in the incident.

Crews of firefighters and paramedics were scrambled to the swimming complex after being called by worried lifeguards who closed a section of the pool.

Stunned swimmers at the Aquadrome, in Basingstoke, Hampshire, looked on as the injured father, aged in his 30s, was cut from the fibreglass flume before being rushed to hospital.

It is believed the man was abruptly flung off when he came to the end. He then skidded along the base of the flume into a set of plastic stairs, with his leg becoming wedged underneath.
