Building a folly
IT MAY be true that, without the late Tony Benn, Concorde would never have been built (Comment, 15 March), but this is not praise.
Technology is not an end in itself and, as Concorde lost a lot of taxpayers’ money, it can be rationally concluded that it was a waste of time and effort that created nothing of value.
It is conclusive proof, if proof were needed, that a free lunch – in the form of state intervention – is not possible.
