Getting shirty

THE politically correct industry appears to be expanding into sport, judging by the condemnation of the harmless "Anyone But England" T-shirts worn by the Tartan Army. No doubt as the World Cup draws closer, Scots will be dragooned into supporting England whether we want to or not on the grounds that they are "representing Britain".

Scotland and England have long enjoyed the type of friendly football rivalry that is the lifeblood of sport. I wish the England team no ill, but in South Africa they will be representing their country not mine and I feel no obligation to cheer them on.
