CONGRATULATIONS to the beautiful and talented Beyonce for winning an amazing six Grammy Awards at the weekend. What a shame she accepted $2 million to perform for Hannibal, the abusive wife-beating son of the Libyan dictator Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi at their New Year's Eve party last month.

For an amazing woman who sings about female empowerment, she was a little off message.

She may also have stopped to wonder how the son of the dictator managed to afford such a luxurious bash – and maybe the Socialist People's Libyan jamahiriya could use their oil revenue building schools and hospitals, rather than entertaining the heirs to Gaddafi's throne.
