Secretary claims Hearts took away matchday role

A SECRETARY suing Hearts for sexual discrimination has claimed she was frozen out of her "prestigious" matchday role because she had been off ill following pregnancy.

Louise MacKenzie, 34, claims the club brought in a second secretary as a deliberate snub, and that if a man had been doing her role, they would have acted differently.

The club deny sexual discrimination, insisting matchday work was never in her contract.

Having made her case to employment judges yesterday, Mrs MacKenzie must now wait to discover whether the tribunal agrees.

Former Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo previously told the hearing that he needed two secretaries to cover seven days a week when he joined the club in July 2008.

On returning to work after giving birth in June 2009, Mrs MacKenzie found her new colleague was also getting a share of matchday work, which earns overtime pay.
