The Weekend of Action, co-ordinated by the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (Acpos), is set to begin on Friday.
Police chiefs said the campaign was being run to highlight to all road users the dangers of speeding or driving at an inappropriate speed.

Chief Superintendent Charlie Common from Lothian and Borders Police - who is the Acpos lead on casualty reduction - said: "Far too many road users are willing to ignore speed limits and this disregard for road safety is worrying.
"Speeding offences can result in a 60 fine and three penalty points or in serious cases a report being submitted to the procurator fiscal."
