SSPCA asking you to give a dog a home

THE SCOTTISH SPCA is appealing to people across Edinburgh and the Lothians to give a rescue animal a home as part of its Rehoming Week.

The charity's Rehoming Week takes place from March 21 to 27 and aims to raise awareness of the benefits of rehoming a rescued animal.

Last year, the charity rehomed more than 5,500 creatures from its ten animal rescue centres across Scotland, ranging from dogs, cats and rabbits, to pot-bellied pigs and snakes.

Centre manager of the Scottish SPCA's Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, Diane Stewart, said: "We are currently caring for lots animals that are desperate for new homes.

"Buying a new pet from a breeder or pet shop isn't the only option. Many of our animals deserve to be given a second chance."
