‘Hoy cycle network’ for Edinburgh agreed
councillors agreed in principle that a city-wide “Sir Chris Hoy cycle network” would be a lasting legacy for the Capital from the Olympic triumph.
The Greens called for a network of segregated on-road cycle lanes, traffic-free paths and routes on less-trafficked roads to allow safe cycling throughout the city.
An amendment from the Labour-SNP administration noted that the creation of such a network “would need to overcome considerable technical and logistical challenges”.
The council’s transport committee will now look into the idea and report back.
