New Order to play Ibiza – 20 years on
They will join acts including Kasabian, Tinie Tempah and Ed Sheeran at the Ibiza Rocks festival in June.
The band, whose 1983 hit Blue Monday remains the biggest-selling 12-inch single of all time, recorded part of their 1989 number-one album Technique in Ibiza, where they were heavily influenced by Balearic house music and acid house.

Hide AdSinger Bernard Sumner said: “The last time New Order were in Ibiza was the second summer of love. We were there to record an album and didn’t really know what we were walking into.
“We left with the basis of our album Technique. New Order and Ibiza are forever entwined. There’s no going back so instead we look forward – to playing our first-ever concert on the island at Ibiza Rocks.”
The band formed in 1980 from post-punk Joy Division.
