DUDDINGSTON duo Gavin Clark and Duncan Ireland, last year's winners, are through to defend their title in the Belhaven Best Captains and Secretaries Championship.

They were among the eight qualifiers from the opening regional final at Musselburgh, where Haddington's Keith Gemmell and Neil Bain emerged victorious with a five-under-par 64. A better inward half saw them pip Harrison's Justin White and Iain Ashley for top spot, with Duddingston club Third (Mike Sneddon/Paul Hubbard), Mount Vernon (Trevor Kelly/Eric Millar) and Thorntree (Jim Cunningham/Bob Walkinshaw) also among the eight qualifiers.
