North Berwick 13 - 8 Strathmore: North Berwick see out double vision

NORTH BERWICK completed the double with victory over Strathmore in the Scottish Hydro Regional Bowl final.

The match started edgily, but it was East One champions North Berwick who settled quicker. After stand-off Grant Craig had missed two long-range penalties, Strathmore skipper Jamie Wilson was sin-binned. That created spaces for the East Lothian side and Craig opened the scoring with a penalty from in front of the posts, before his side's first try came in the 39th minute from Peter Gannon.

Craig converted to leave Strathmore ten points down at the break.

The side from Forfar performed better in the second half and reduced the deficit to 10-5 in the 53rd minute with a Niall Lear try. Craig and Strathmore full-back Brad McKenzie swapped penalties with just over 20 minutes to go and it finished 13-8 to round off North Berwick's successful season.
