Spartans 3-0 Edinburgh University: Spartans shrug off students

EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY lost their unbeaten status in the league as defending champions Spartans cruised to a comfortable win.

Gavin Malin nearly put Spartans in front in the sixth minute but his smart shot was pushed around the post by Tait. However Ross Archibald rose to head home the resulting corner for an early lead.

Spartans doubled their advantage in the 20th minute when Spartans midfielder Malin smacked a strike towards goal from 12 yards out which took a bounce off the ground on its way into the bottom right corner of the net.

Five minutes into the half the leaders killed off any chance of a University comeback. From the right-hand side Omar Kader threaded the ball forward to King, who cut the ball inside the box from the byline, where Keith McLeod was on hand to bury his 200th goal for Spartans.
