Stein calls the shots for Hibees

This game at Easter Road left Partick Thistle the only First Division team in Scotland without a point, and kept Hibs sharing top place with Celtic, although behind on goal average.

There was no injustice about it, Partick were squarely beaten - they could find no answer to an exhilarating mixture of brilliance and blunder that turned the second half into a 45-minute sing-song for the Easter Road supporters.

The Hibs forward line, collectively and individually, was a brilliant one. Their football fast and clever, and their faults come from being too ambitious rather than lack of effort.

A critic might have complained that Colin Stein showed signs of flinching at times, but that would have belittled his fine distribution and intelligent positioning.

Behind the forward line, however, the picture was not quite so rosy. McNamee was doing a very efficient job but Duncan and Davis both, at times, seemed to get into intricate fankles.

Stein, McCormack, who had quite an outstanding game, and Scott all scored twice and Stevenson scored the other goal. McGraw was the only forward not to score but showed up well throughout. It was an exciting side to watch.

With some excellent play by their wingers, Roxburgh and Duncan, and a splendid link-man effort by McParland, Partick enjoyed no breaks.
