Budding wizards - and even muggles - are invited to dust down their spell books and dig out their wands next month for a positively ‘magic’ party to complement the 9th edition of Edinburgh International Magic Festival.
Dubbed a Wizard World Gathering, the £18 ticketed event will take place at the gothic-style Great Hall of Assembly Roxy on Roxburgh Place in Newington, close to the Edinburgh cafés where Harry Potter author JK Rowling concocted much of her early material.

There will also be a costume competition, fantasy quiz, Fantastic Beats from DJ Gregarious, a potions master class, chocolate frogs and enchanted cakes from Suki Bakes, special brew from ALEchemy Brewery, hog roast, Diagon Alley style shops with magical books from Golden Hare books, and official merchandise from the Boy Wizard shop among other enchanting delights.
Lastly, there will be live magic performances by renowned magicians R Paul Wilson, John Henry Blackwood and Kevin Quantum.
The three-day Wizard World Gathering kicks off on 11 May at 6pm.
